8k miles, $24k... if you’re in the Midwest and looking, check it out. This looks to be a very NP

My friend was gifted a first year AP1 with 24k miles on it six months ago from his father who bought it brand new. I like to tell this story as often as I can to explain that I HATE MY BEST FRIEND.

Doesn’t make sense to me to buy it unless you’re going to refrain from driving it, which should be criminal.

I’d feel bad DD-ing that in Detroit. Also really close to Miata/124 money.

Detroit, yeah. As far as Miata/124 comparisons, still worth it to me. I would have put down $22-24k on an AP2 if I hadn’t found my AP1 first. (Glad I did though!)

Remember that if you don’t drive them enough the valves can go all screwy.

Just out of curiosity what makes you say that? Do you really notice the 800rpm(or whatever) difference? I assumed AP2 was the way to go becasue Honda “fixed” things.

Oh, I didn’t have a defined preference AP1/AP2 since I hadn’t driven both enough to know first-hand what I wanted. I just mean, I happened to find an AP1 that checked the right boxes before I found an AP2. AP1-vs-AP2 comes down to a matter of taste; it’s a never-ending debate in S2000 circles.

8000 miles?? That is like too low. I would actually be concerned that 12 years and that few miles would actually be bad for the car.

what is a quick run down on the differences between AP1 and AP2? All I know is that AP1 revs higher.

Steering rack is quicker on the AP1, more oversteer bias, different gearing to accommodate the rev range, AP2 develops power at lower RPM, 16 vs. 17 inch wheels, slight interior, exterior, and light changes, rear speakers added, stability control with DBW added for MY 06... that’s what comes to mind right now
